As Long As I’m Living

By

a poem inspired by Psalm 30

As long as I’m living, I’ll sing of your majesty,
as long as I’m breathing, I’ll tell of your works.
For how can the dust speak of your faithfulness?
What good am I, quiet and bound to the ground?

So you’ll find me dancing as long as I’m living,
you’ll find me spinning around and around.
For how could I silence the voice you’ve placed in me,
to tell of your wonders again and again?

You’ve stripped me of sorrow and dressed me in joy,
your mercy has lifted me out of my shame.
I see a new day upon the horizon,
I hear you calling my name.

Creation joins in the song of the ages—
the rocks and the trees sing out your praise.
Rivers and meadows leap at your goodness,
the heavens declare the glory of God.

So you’ll find me singing as long as I’m living,
you’ll find me praising all the day long.
For how could I silence the voice you’ve placed in me?
I’ll join in creation to sing heaven’s song.
