Based on the story in Luke 13:10-13
Back aching. Bent over low.
The only world I’ve come to know.
Eighteen years have passed me by,
Rarely meeting another’s eye.
A thousand little griefs I bear,
Still, I make my way to prayer.
Another Sabbath day of rest,
My crippled body’s put to the test.
Today, a Rabbi is our guest.
Is this the One I’ve heard about?
Who heals the sick, casts demons out?
He teaches with authority.
Dear God, did He just call out to me?
What could He want? What have I done?
I feel the eyes of everyone.
I slowly walk amidst their gaze,
My heart beats fast, my face ablaze.
“Dear woman, you are free!
You are released from your infirmity!”
He puts His hands upon my back,
I straighten up, just like that!
For years I’ve longed to look up,
Now I behold the face of Love.
Praise be to God, who calls to me!
He makes me whole, He sets me free!
